Phil & Cathryn

"It's good to have the things money can buy as long as you don't forget the things money can't buy."

Phil and Cathryn both discovered God's love in Nottingham, when a friend simply introduced them to the Bible. Cathryn, brought up to go to church, somehow had thought it was all about doing good. Phil viewed Christians as wet, sandal-wearing freaks - "But when we saw just how amazing Jesus is and what he did, we began to see that he was more than all the world could offer." Now a successful businessman, Phil constantly meets people who seem to have forgotten the things money can't buy. Cathryn, who loves shopping, says: "You can get everything you want in Kingston, but now, with Late Night Church, you can get everything you need."

Gillian

"The thrill of a new purchase quickly fades."

Most Friday nights, Gillian's on the dance floor, but on Thursdays she'll be at Late Night Church. Life wasn't always like this. "I'm from a working-class background so when offered a place at Cambridge University to study Maths, I thought life couldn't get better. I felt like dancing." However, Gillian became deeply unhappy at university and life turned into a weary plod. "Like buying new clothes, it was exciting at first, but that feeling soon wanes." After graduation Gillian met a wonderfully kind older couple, who introduced her to knowing God through Jesus. "When I realised the massive cost of God's love for me, seen in Jesus on the cross, I felt like dancing again. Unlike any relationship or university degree or new clothes this lasts forever."

Pete & Anne

"World's best-seller."

As an editor, Anne cuts and re-writes many manuscripts. "To make a book or story better, a lot of changes are needed." says Anne. "That's true in life too. We don't 'write' very good lives. We need someone with more skill to edit out the bad bits and take over our story." Pete discovered the greatest script-writer of all when someone told him about Jesus. "I was illegally selling stuff to tourists at Windsor Castle, when someone talked to me about life and death. I assumed he was a nutter, but he got me thinking." says Pete. "I met him again and he showed me the greatest story ever... from the Bible! - the story of Jesus rescuing people from themselves." No wonder the Bible is the world's bestseller! Pete, a leader of Late Night Church, says: "That's what Late Night Church is for - to look into the Bible and hear the greatest words ever."

Chris & Lydia

"The world's most Special Offer!"

Chris and Lydia are getting married in October. Weddings are expensive so they are looking out for special offers. "You only have to mention a wedding, and everything costs more."

Lydia, who assesses risk for insurance companies, loves the amazing offer found in the Bible: "Is anyone thirsty? Come and drink - even if you have no money! Come, take your choice of wine and milk - it's all free! ... Listen and I'll tell you where to get good food that fattens up the soul!"

"In my teens I came to understand the cost Jesus paid for me to receive this free, satisfying soul food" says Lydia. As did Chris, while studying Law at Kingston University: "As a lawyer I have to test what people say, and I'm convinced that this must be the world's most special offer."
